Elementary students to receive support through spring reading clinic

The College of Education and Human Performance will continue to offer reading clinics for elementary school children next semester.

Classes begin Feb. 2 through April 27 and will be held at the University of Central Florida’s Teaching Academy on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. The cost of enrollment is $75 per student.

No refunds will be rewarded after Jan. 19.

Children who participate in the program will be paired with an undergraduate or graduate student to allow for an individualized session in which children will be given support in developing their reading and writing skills.

UCF students can volunteer to be a part of the program through their Reading Faculty members in the Reading Practicum Course.

“The program provides low-cost, individualized tutoring to children and families in need of reading education support,” co-founder Dr. Taylar Wenzel said.

Parents who wish to enroll their children in the program can do so by accessing the Spring Reading Clinic website.

Registration for the Spring Reading Clinic for elementary students opens Dec. 15.
